Drawing from youth culture, poetic form, and the sensibilities of theatre, his films magnify what lies beneath the visible \u2014 the subtle tensions between self, society, and the unseen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Marek practiced film directing at UCLA in 2019, studying under Navid Sinaki and participating in master critique classes with James Benning at California Institute of the Arts. In 2020, he furthered his education at \u00c9cole de Leth, a one-off short film program led by the late J\u00f8rgen Leth, where he was taught filmmaking by Thomas Vinterberg and Lars von Trier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Screenings and exhibitions include ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art (Copenhagen, 2020), El Apartamento Gallery (Havana, 2018), ASVOFF 15 (Paris, 2023), Fashion Film Festival Milano (2017, 2022), Dazed Digital (2012), LAS Gallery in collaboration with Bad Art Presents (London, 2025).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marek Stave is a film artist based in Oslo whose practice interlaces emotion, image, and sound into lyrical explorations of identity and perception.
